Host, More In Common
Michael Koenigs is the host of More in Common and the executive producer of ABC Localish.
As an award-winning reporter for ABC, Koenigs has covered a wide range of stories—from presidential debates to Super Bowls, from the border of North Korea to hurricane zone of North Carolina. His exclusive interviews with politicians, celebrities, and beloved locals have been watched by millions across ABC platforms.
In 2016, he biked 1,000 miles across the swing states of America for ABC's original series "Election Cycle" which aired across Hulu and ABC News platforms including "Good Morning America" and "Nightline."
In 2017, he conducted a series of profile interviews for ABC News that generated international attention, including a story about an unlikely friendship that became ABC's most viral interview of that year with over 50 million views.
During the polarizing 2018 midterm election, Koenigs created More in Common, a show about people coming together despite their political and personal differences. It became one of Facebook's most watched weekly news shows and expanded into a half-hour TV show on ABC's owned stations. He and his team of producers traveled to every corner of the country to capture extraordinary moments of solidary—from the US-Mexico border to the beaches of Hawaii to the peaks of Alaska. In 2020, More in Common became the #1 rated TV show in its timeslot in major markets, with in-depth coverage of the coronavirus pandemic and the Black Lives Matter movement.
Koenigs also oversees the creative development of ten original shows for ABC Localish, a nationwide programming initiative from ABC-Disney that reaches approximately 14 million TV households across America and millions more online.
After graduating cum laude from Harvard, Koenigs began his career in media as a producer for Chris Cuomo at "20/20" and then Diane Sawyer at "ABC World News Tonight."
