ABC News Presents Network-Wide Coverage of LGBTQ+ Pride Month Throughout June
ABC News announced network-wide, month-long coverage of LGBTQ+ Pride Month and the community, coverage includes:
ABC News Live will highlight Pride Month throughout June, featuring interviews with LGBTQ+ changemakers and an array of stories about the community on "ABC News Live Prime with Linsey Davis." ABC News Live's pride parade coverage kicks off with a simulcast of KABC-TV's coverage of LA Pride on June 9 and will culminate with "Pride Across America," a major streaming event that spans the entire country, featuring five hours of live coverage from three of the nation's biggest pride marches and parades on June 30, beginning at 11 a.m. EDT/8 a.m. PDT. In partnership with Hulu and ABC Owned Television Stations WABC (New York), WLS (Chicago) and KGO (San Francisco), "Pride Across America" will begin with a one-hour pre-show, followed by coverage of the pride marches and parades and will include live special guest interviews and inspiring stories, spotlighting today's influential LGBTQ+ leaders.
"Good Morning America" will kick off its series "GMA Out Loud!," featuring segments and interviews with leaders in the LGBTQ+ community. Features will highlight pride celebrations across America and cover wide-ranging LGBTQ+ topics, including the rise of ballroom culture and its impact, coming out and finding community later in life, the challenges gay couples face accessing IVF benefits, religion in the gay community and a complicated relationship with faith, and more. Additionally, coverage will feature guest appearances from comedy legends Sandra Bernhard and Judy Gold as well as singer David Archuleta. This month's coverage will also feature shoppable pride fashions and a special edition of "Deal & Steals," highlighting LGBTQ+ businesses with Jason Wu.
"World News Tonight" will spotlight key figures in the LGBTQ+ community within its "America Strong" and "Person of the Week" segments.
"GMA3: What You Need to Know" will cover Pride Month with interviews, profiles, segments and guests throughout the month, including an inspiring interview with Cyndi Lauper on being an ally for the LGBTQ+ community as she prepares to be named the first-ever Lifetime Ally Icon at this year's WeHo Pride Parade.
"The View" will cover Pride Month by highlighting issues concerning LGBTQ+ voters during the 2024 election year and will spotlight people who showcase the resilience and joy of the LGBTQ+ community.
"Nightline" will feature celebrity guests and beloved stars in the LGBTQ+ community, including David Archuleta and Margaret Cho, for interviews about the importance of representation and inclusivity on screen, on stage and in music. Segments will also explore how issues facing the LGBTQ+ community intersect with the journey of other underrepresented groups in the United States.
"This Week with George Stephanopoulos" will air stories spotlighting the LGBTQ+ community.
ABC News Digital and Good Morning America Digital will report on Pride Month with a series of compelling stories and narratives highlighting LGBTQ+ history and legacy, as well as the community in America. Additionally, there will be an update on the Bud Light boycott one year later, an exploration of the state of LGBTQ+ safe spaces, stories of "rainbow families," and discussions about the challenges and joys of LGBTQ+ parenthood. The coverage will also delve into intersectionality and inclusivity within the community while profiling faces of LGBTQ+ creativity and more.
